Robert P. Merges
Professor Robert P. Merges is Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati Professor of Law and Technology at U.C. Berkeley (Boalt Hall) School of Law, and a co-Director of the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology, centerpiece of the top-rated Intellectual Property program among U.S. law schools. He is the co-author of leading casebooks on patent law and intellectual property, and has written numerous articles on the economics of intellectual property, in particular patent law. Professor Merges has worked with government agencies such as the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission on IP-related policy issues. He has also consulted with leading law firms and companies. He received his B.S. from Carnegie-Mellon University, a J.D. from Yale Law School, and Ll.M. and JSD degrees from Columbia Law School.
